Unfortunately, after gargantuan efforts by all involved, the BBC's James May and hundreds of volunteers failed in their attempt to break the world record for the longest model railway track by building a 10-mile Hornby-style toy railway along the Tarka Trail. On behalf of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, we congratulate everyone that took part in this audacious event. It brought people together and highlighted the remarkable community spirit in the Biosphere Reserve.
