Biosphere Communities Continues to Grow Across Northern Devon

The Biosphere Communities Project is continuing to support local people across Northern Devon to take action for nature, climate and their communities.
Over the past year, communities have come together to organise litter picks, habitat restoration projects, wildlife surveys, creative activities, workshops, walks and community conversations. From South Molton to Chulmleigh, Appledore and Bideford to Ashreigney, local people have been sharing ideas and turning them into action.
As the project develops, we are pleased that Louise Reynolds has stepped into a coordination role within the Biosphere Communities programme.
Louise is already well known to many Biosphere partners. She brings extensive experience in community engagement, nature connection, sustainable tourism and partnership working, having previously worked with organisations including Exmoor National Park, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the University of East Anglia, as well as supporting several Biosphere projects over recent years.
Reflecting on her new role, Louise said:
"What excites me most about Biosphere Communities is the chance to support people who care about nature where they live. Across Northern Devon there are so many brilliant ideas, committed volunteers and inspiring local groups wanting to make a difference. The project is helping connect people, organisations and opportunities, creating space for communities to shape positive change in the places that matter to them."
With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, the project is continuing to build a network of local groups, volunteers and young people, while helping communities explore practical responses to nature recovery, climate resilience and local wellbeing.
In the coming months, Biosphere Communities will continue to support community events, develop opportunities for young people through the Biosphere Crew, and help strengthen connections between communities and the wider Biosphere partnership.
