Our website for visitors to the Biosphere is now live.
It is all about the North Devon Biosphere but the site is free from all the technical data, research reports, and papers etc. This type of information will remain on this site.

From the highlands of Dartmoor and Exmoor, down the river valleys to the sea and beyond Lundy, the North Devon Biosphere is one of 668 Reserves in 122 countries designated by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme and was the first of 6 to be designated in the UK. The designation secures a better future by linking people and nature today.

North Devon's Biosphere Reserve has
UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) is an intergovernmental programme aiming to set a scientific basis for the improvement of relationships between people and their local environments.
Biosphere Reserves are established by individual countries and recognised by MAB to promote sustainable development based on local community efforts and sound science. |

25 Year Environment Plan
This 25-Year Environment Plan sets out government action to help the natural world regain and retain good health. It aims to deliver cleaner air and water in our cities and rural landscapes, protect threatened species and provide richer wildlife habitats. It calls for an approach to agriculture, forestry, land use and fishing that puts the environment first.
North Devon's Biosphere Reserve is jointly funded by Devon County Council, North Devon Council, Torridge District Council North Devon's Biosphere Reserve is twinned with the Malindi-Watumu Biosphere Reserve on the Kenyan coast. |
