It was the second review of the estuary management plan in 2000 that addressed the issues on an ecosystem scale that led to the designation of the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Partnership works with the Taw Torridge Estuary forum to keep the strategy under review and coordinate its implementation.

Management of the Taw Torridge Estuary is affected by a variety of factors such as wildlife and landscape considerations, climate change, sea level rise and the social and economic uses that we wish to put in to it. The Taw Torridge Estuary Forum brings partners together to resolve conflict and build management consensus, and is a wonderful source of information.
