Tarka Trail (shared use section) - usage

There is no easy way of counting users of the Tarka Trail in any given year.  There are however automated cycle counters on the Tarka Trail between Barnstaple and Petrockstowe.

The quietest sections are those south of Torrington. As a rule of thumb, cycle pass totals can be doubled to include pedestrians giving an estimated total ‘traffic’ figure for the Trail of over 1 million. Since 2002, there have been nearly 7 million recorded cycle passes between Braunton and Meeth giving an estimated total traffic of 14 million.
