Help us celebrate!“With each passing year, the urgency of tackling environmental issues becomes clearer: we only have one planet, and it is in danger. Our relationship with nature and with other living beings needs a radical rethink in order to address these issues - we need to design and create a truly shared world.
Biosphere reserves have shown that it is possible to live in this world while also establishing a sustainable and harmonious relationship with nature. The International Day for Biosphere Reserves is an invitation to take inspiration from the solutions already implemented in these spaces to build genuinely sustainable development everywhere, with full respect for nature and for the living world.” International Day for Biosphere Reserves | UNESCO To celebrate the first ‘UNESCO International Day for Biosphere Reserves’ and the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere’s 20th Anniversary, the UK and Ireland Biosphere’s are coming together to create short films or stories of the people who live and work within our Biospheres, finding out what being part of a UNESCO Biosphere means to them. These films/stories will be shared on our websites and social media. We would be grateful if you could take some time to help us with this, by creating your own story or one minute film as follows: Say “hello”, state where you’re from and mention that you are located within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere, in the UK. Answer some of the following questions which have been provided as a guide:
Please send your films via WeTransfer to [email protected] with the words ‘International Day for Biosphere Reserves’ in the title. Alternatively, send us an email story, to the above address, with your written answers (max 75 words per question) and attach a photograph of yourself, your favourite natural place in the biosphere, or one thing visitors should experience. The deadline for submissions is Monday 31st October 2022
